Hi, I'm new to MythTV, but I'm very impressed. I had a fairly hassle free install - but have learnt the lesson of not trying to install when plugged into a TV - the configuration console was terrible!

I'm having trouble with IR port on my Leadtek DVT-1000 T digital card. It appears that the IR port is not configured at all (I'm running R5D1 until my ISP updates its mirror).

Below is the output from what appears to be the relevant diagnostic commands.
---------------------------------------------------------
root@mythtv:~# ls -l /dev/lir*
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 61, 0 Jun 22 2006 /dev/lirc
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 61, 1 Oct 1 2005 /dev/lirc1
srw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 Jan 14 17:15 /dev/lircd
prw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jul 30 2004 /dev/lircm
---------------------------------------------------------
root@mythtv:~# mode2
mode2: error opening /dev/lirc
mode2: No such device
---------------------------------------------------------
root@mythtv:~# irw
connect: Connection refused
---------------------------------------------------------
root@mythtv:~# cat /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
# Arguments which will be used when launching lircd
LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
START_LIRCMD=false

#Try to load appropriate kernel modules
LOAD_MODULES=true

# Run "lircd --driver=help" for a list of supported drivers.
DRIVER="default"
# If DEVICE is set to /dev/lirc and devfs is in use /dev/lirc/0 will be
# automatically used instead
DEVICE="/dev/lirc"
MODULES="lirc_dev lirc_i2c"
---------------------------------------------------------
When I run 'lsmod' there appears to be lots of IR and lirc related modules loaded.

What can I do to bring my IR port up and running?

Thanks,

Daniel

Well I've upgraded to R5E50 with only minor troubles - but I haven't got any further.

I thought that I would start my configuration of the remote by selecting "leadtek" as the type of remote from lirc-reconfig.sh. However when I select option 24 I get the error
Quote:
/usr/local/bin/lirc-reconfig.sh: line 475: leadtek: command not found

So does anyone have any ideas on how to get the IR port on my DTV1000 working?

With a bit more searching around, it appears that (with openSUSE at least) the kernel needs to be patched to enable the IR port.

Is this patch already applied in R5E50, or do I need to download, patch and recompile the kernel (or the cx88 module) to get the remote to work?

Hi,

A bit off topic but you have the same capture card as me and i have had absolutely no luck with it so far. Did you have to do anything in particular to make it work? Id be very grateful if you could give me some info please as it driving me round the bend.
