Not sure if this is the correct category, but it happened during the install an' I can't find out how to change it.
Anyways, I put in my DataDirect info, and clicked on the get listings. That downloaded the data. However, it wouldn't set any of my channels. I ended up having to do a channel scan. That worked, but now all my channels are showing up as "Adding Channel ##...." Is there a way I can get them back to the correct names?

When you dropped and recreated the card definitions did you recreate the Input Connection?

I never dropped and recreated the cards. This was a complete, clean install. I created the card, then the input, an' couldn't see channels.

When you created the Video Source did you hit the button to download the lineup?

I have the same issue, I get my correct lineup shown during a clean install, the channel scan works, program guide ok, but I cant use the "retrieve from local listings" it checkmarks, but nothing happens.

Scanning for SDTV channels when you have a listing grabber available will generally screw up your lineup. Fixing this requires a big purge, (dropping all your video sources). Also remember you may not see the channel info until _after_ you run mythfilldatabase.
See this wiki page for a mythtv-setup walk through: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlackScreenWatchingTV The scanning issue is noted under both the Video Source and Channel Editor setup items.

Yup, and I saw it connect and download information. However, it still didn't list any of my channels. I had to click the channel scan to get that to work.

IIRC, it wouldn't let me leave the screen because it wanted to know what channel to start the listings at, but wouldn't give me any options.

Ah. I've seen this. You've got hidden card definitions in the DB table. You need to purge those first. Start with the "Delete all cards" option (not all on machine, just plain "all"). Then go visit the DB table and make sure there aren't any left. Gimmee a second while I find my previous posting on this. Someone else just had the same problem.... OK, see this thread...

I don't think that's the same problem. My card shows up correctly as Tuner 1 on video0. However, no matter what I do, I still can't get it to pull the channel listings from DataDirect. It worked perfectly fine in R5D1, so I'm not sure what the issue in R5E50 is.

Go look at the DB table. Seriously. It'll take 2 minutes and afterwards you'll know it's right.

How do I do that? An' it looks like I broke somethin'. The frontend is saying that it can't communicate with the backend.

How would it be a DB issue if I did a brand new install? I wiped the drive an' didn't do a restore.
Also, the backend doesn't seem to come up correctly anymore. And when I try a start, it tells me that it's already running, but for some reason the frontend doesn't see it. I have to manually restart the backend before things start working.

You did say install in your first post, but it's often difficult to tell if people really mean that they did an install or just an upgrade. You can look at stuff in the DB either using webmin (see the wiki for setup instructions) or from the command lne like this: Code: mysql -u root mythconverg -e "select * from capturecard" I'd still suggest trying the mythtv-setup walkthrough on the http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlackScreenWatchingTV wiki page. Make sure you've select the right card type, setup your source, and associated it with the input. Every once it a while while experimenting I'll roach my setup and end up having to go through that myself. baishen78 wrote: Also, the backend doesn't seem to come up correctly anymore. See my R5E50 upgrade hints thread for a fixed version of the backend init script that cures this.

I'll take a look. It was working fine before I started messing with the setup, though.
