Using a wintv-nova-t DVB card with the remote (type a415) plugged in

Ive tried running lirc-reconfig.sh and choosing the c. Silver remote (A415-HPG)

but its not working as expected.

I seem to be suffering the same problems as i expereinced when i installed r5a16 18 months ago, only the arrow and numeric keys work

Back then the solution was a bespoke file and configuring lircd to use /dev/input/eventX where X is in range 0-4

Ive tried a similar approach this time without success.

Anyone else cracked this nut, ive done a search but not found the solution yet for the NOVA-t and r5e50?

Ive tried the config file i used to use in r5a16 but its not working.
do i need to use irw to roll a new file ?

Give the "Dog Bone" (last option) remote a try from the lircrc script.

Th Lirc part of this post should help.
The Nova-T apparently uses a different system than the PVRx50 series.

You can try the config-file in my Nova-S wiki (see link below) - there is also the command-line for irrecord to make your own file.

Ok, im starting to appreciate here the problem is not just the a415 remote on R5e50
its the a415 remote using the Nova-t DVB card on r5e50

Ive tried just about everything suggested above including a rebuild of
lirc and rolling my own lircd.conf file using irrecord

which looks like this
# Please make this file available to others
# by sending it to <lirc@bartelmus.de>
#
# this config file was automatically generated
# using lirc-0.8.1-CVS-pvr150(dev/input) on Sun Mar 11 18:25:53 2007
#

# brand: zzz
# model no. of remote control:
# devices being controlled by this remote:

begin remote

name a415
bits 32

aeps 100

one 0 0
zero 0 0
gap 132969
toggle_bit 0

begin codes

hash 0x0172
red 0x018E
green 0x018F
yellow 0x0190
blue 0x0191
end codes

end remote

which does not seems to work.

I'm thinking the nova-t DVB seems a fairly popular card in the uk so surely someone must have crossed this problem before, but then again i could have done something completely stupid so who knows!

root@decivo2:/etc/lirc# cat hardware.conf
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
# Arguments which will be used when launching lircd
LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
START_LIRCMD=false

#Try to load appropriate kernel modules
LOAD_MODULES=true

# Run "lircd --driver=help" for a list of supported drivers.
DRIVER="dev/input"
# If DEVICE is set to /dev/lirc and devfs is in use /dev/lirc/0
# udev uses /dev/lirc0 will be automatically used instead
MODULES="lirc_dev"
DEVICE="/dev/input/event2"
LIRCD_CONF="/etc/lirc/lircd.conf"

Im still just getting the cursor keys an 0-9 buttons working - no back-exit guide etc buttons

attempting to test the remote with irw yields nothing.

its so frustrating

Just to make sure, are you sure that /dev/input/event2 is the correct one. Do the entries in your /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc match up to your lircd.conf? For instance, is there an entry for "RIGHT" (with the exactly the same spelling and capitalization) in your lircrc file?

think its event2 because

Ironically RIGHT works ok

here is an extract from the lircrc

# MythTV LIRC config file for the gray Hauppauge remote

# 1004 032400

# /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc

### RESET THE MYTH BOX or REBOOT IT
# 1 click is reset front end, 2 clicks is reboot

prog = irexec

config = /home/mythtv/scripts/mypower.sh &
end
#

end
#
# Channel Up

config = Up
end

# Channel Down
begin
prog = mythtv
button = Channel-DOWN
repeat = 3
config = Down
end

# OK/Select
begin
prog = mythtv
button = OK
config = Space
end

# Play
begin
prog = mythtv
button = Play
config = Return
end

# Stop
begin
prog = mythtv
button = Stop
config = Esc
end

# Escape/Exit/Back
begin
prog = mythtv
button = Back-Exit
config = Esc
end

etc...

I think they are all ok in there but the crucial one to get working is Back-Exit which is identical in both files.

I finally got this working using a hybrid file partly from my old box and partly from a new recording

Code:
begin remote

  name  cx88.cfg
  bits           16
  eps            30
  aeps          100

  one             0     0
  zero            0     0
  pre_data_bits   16
  pre_data       0x8001
  gap          132900
  toggle_bit      0

      begin codes
          Go                       0x0161
          TV                       0x0179
          Pictures                 0x016F
          Power                    0x0074
          Videos                   0x0189
          Music                    0x0188
          Guide                    0x016D
          Radio                    0x0165
          UP                       0x0067
          DOWN                     0x006C
          LEFT                     0x0069
          RIGHT                    0x006A
          OK                       0x001C
          Back-Exit                0x00AE
          Menu                     0x008B
          Volume-UP                0x0073
          Volume-DOWN              0x0072
          Channel-UP               0x0192
          Channel-DOWN             0x0193
          Prev-Channel             0x016B
          Mute                     0x0071
          Record                   0x00A7
          Stop                     0x0080
          Rewind                   0x00A8
          Play                     0x00CF
          Forward                  0x00D0
          Pause                    0x0077
          Previous                 0x00A5
          Next                     0x00A3
          1                        0x0002
          2                        0x0003
          3                        0x0004
          4                        0x0005
          5                        0x0006
          6                        0x0007
          7                        0x0008
          8                        0x0009
          9                        0x000A
          0                        0x000B
          star                     0x0184
          hash                     0x0172
          red                      0x018E
          green                    0x018F
          yellow                   0x0190
          blue                     0x0191
      end codes

no idea why the old file or the new recording did not work but the above merged version seems to work fine...

I hope this is of some use to someone as it wasted more than a few hours messing about to get this working.
