I've build a standard install on an ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboard and all works well except

1) The ethernet is hideously slow
2) Audio doesnt work at all

The ethernet I can deal with, but I have no idea how to debug the audio thing. Does anyone have this MB?

A quick search on these forums reveals that many are using this board. You really need to provide much more detail:

What version of KM?

How do you have it configured? What is it plugged into? What is the output of ethtool eth0?

Which audio (analog or digital/SPDIF)? Have you run alsamixer and unmuted the outputs and set the volume levels?

I'm running a late SVN 13054M

I've unmuted the levels, just trying to get something to come out of the analog ports at the moment. What settings/options are required. I've read a lot of different things about the MB but nothing consistent

Also, I'm using the latest Knopp Install Distribution. I've tried loading it again on another disk with the stock install. no sound.

I have this board working, but it took some doing. Try this wiki.

I had a sound card laying around so I put it in and now I have a different problem. I need to set the audio device to /dev/dsp1. I can't find where I can change this. I've seen many references to it, but I can't find where to set it.

I've got around the problem of using dsp1 by disabling the onboard sound in the bios. It was with a different asus motherboard.

Well I've found the audio page. For some reason I was getting dsp1 but no dsp with the onboard audio device disabled. After shutting down overnight, rebooting this morning the card came up as dsp and not dsp1. Dynamic device have their issues.
