I have a test system, Pentiun 4-1.5G with two PVR-250 tuners. Nvidia video card. This is the second platform that I have put together. Both work well, the first a little slow. In any case, I sucessfully installed 0.14, 0.15 and 0.15.1 with the exception that with 0.15 and 0.15.1, Mythweather seems to lock up mythfrontend. When I go to the Setup-Weather screen, the keyboard locks up when trying to select anything. This has happened on two different systems with a fresh full autoinstall of either 0.15 or 0.15.1. I verified mythweather-i686 was up to date. Everything else, works great. I have a frontend only unit that also works well in every aspect except that I can complete the weather setup, selecting city, units, but when complete, hangs at the "updating" screen. Internet access is via DSL and works well for DataDirect. Thought it was odd that on the identical hardware, 0.14 weather worked flawless. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with R4V4.1, installed on a virgin system just under two days ago.

What's really weird is that the problem cleared up "by itself". I'm guessing that the system just needed to download some weather/news (even if it was for the wrong location), to initialize some data structures to prevent the infloop.

I am using the default "blue" theme that was installed at new installation time. I have not tried others, but I will. Thanks for the advice.

I have this same problem also. I have not traced it yet but it may be related to the nvidia drivers or the MvCV(sp?) install. I know when I did not install those items Myth weather worked great. When I installed those other items it locked up on me in the setup. If I get time I will run some more tests to see if I can narrow down the cause. I am using R4V4.

I've seen this as well but the problem is intermitent. It seems to happen when the initial connection attempt doesn't suceed immediately. Most of the time it works just fine, but every once in a while it just goes off to the island of lost bits and forgets it's way home... I am NOT using the xvmc drivers.

Had the same problem. Also hanged in the video section updating imdb. The problem goes away if you dont install the nvidia drivers.

I finally fixed it when I realized I was running i586 kernel, but I had choosen i686 at install. :?:

I did
Code:
install-i686-lx

then I installed the nvidia drivers again
Code:
install-nvidia.sh

Since then, the box has been rock solid.

Also edited /etc/lilo.conf and changed the line vga=788 to vga=normal (this breaks bootsplash and was made prior to the above modifications, so might not be necessary.) After reading this tread, I reverted back to vga=788, rebooted, and everything seems to be ok.

See this post for more about it. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1625&highlight=i686

I too have this happening. I have a dual-head X11 setup with my PVR350-tv out and Nvidia GeForce card for VGA. When mythfronend is loaded to the Nvidia display...no problems, MythWeather works fine. The problem consistently happens every time I try to run the mythfrontend through my PVR350 Display. Lock up...Console states error binding to the UDP port.

My guess it is something to do with the ivtv driver (1.9-unpatched). Maybe some ivtv-fb patches will clear it up. I don't know.
