I'm working with an R5E50 "test system" (a machine that isn't my main in-use Mythtv machine).

I've been testing a DVB-S satellite card in it (Technisat Skystar2 DVB-S) and I have to keep opening up alsamixer and unmuting the audio channels after every startup. For some reason, alsamixer can't remember the settings I gave it on the last session.

This is a fresh load of R5E50 on another Asus A8n-VM CSM motherboard I have. I've never seen this problem with any other KM install I've done. Normally, after I install, I unmute all the audio channels and they stay unmuted. That is not the case on this machine. I expect there is a file somewhere that holds your alsa volume and mute settings. I've not found it yet, thought.

I've been searching for clues in the forum and have not found a solution yet. Does this sound familiar to anyone else? Know of a fix?

After you make your changes, try
Code:
sudo alsactl store

That should save your settings.

There is a similar issue with ALSA on the Asus MNPV-VM. See this post by spideyk21 http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 4044#74044

It worked. Thanks.

Any idea why this was necessary? I've never had to do this before.
