I have undertaken a fresh install of R5E50 on a clean hard drive. I am trying to use my mceusb2 remote, which I know worked on another install (albeit R5C7 I think).

/etc/lirc/hardware.conf reads like this:

Quote:
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
# Arguments which will be used when launching lircd
LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
START_LIRCMD=false

#Try to load appropriate kernel modules
LOAD_MODULES=true

# Run "lircd --driver=help" for a list of supported drivers.
DRIVER="default"
# If DEVICE is set to /dev/lirc and devfs is in use /dev/lirc/0
# udev uses /dev/lirc0 will be automatically used instead
DEVICE="/dev/lirc0"
MODULES="lirc_dev lirc_mceusb2"

The module is loaded, lircd is running. There is a link /home/mythtv/.lircrc pointing to /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc.

The only nagging doubt I have is this line in /var/log/syslog:
Quote:
/var/log/syslog:Apr 18 08:16:06 media lircd-0.8.1-CVS-pvr150[2463]: could not get file information for /dev/lirc

Which leads me to suspect that something is looking for /dev/lirc instead of /dev/lirc0

Any ideas?

With udev, it uses /dev/lirc0.

I know that, and /etc/lirc/hardware.conf says /dev/lirc0 , but the log file refers to /dev/lirc, which made me think there was something funny going on.

A quick note for future reference - I followed these steps and it worked:
