I have a pvr 250 and a wintv go. I am trying to setup both cards however as soon as I put both in and then run myth-setup I am no longer allowed to choose "tuner 0" as an input option when choosing which cards are installed. the only options available are Televison, S-Video, Composite 1 and Composite 2. This is for both cards. Is there a way around this? If so can someone let me know. Also, is there a way to get both my audio out jacks to function on a sb live value card?

Did you tell mythtv-setup to install a MPEG2 capture card for the PVR250? Also make sure, when both cards are plugged in, that ivtv driver is loaded before bttv. This works normally out of the box... but not always. I had to tweak /etc/modules (added ivtv before bttv). Maybe you should also try to shuffle your cards in different PCI slots.

I get to the setup of the tuner cards in mythtv and within that setup it doesnt allow me to choose tuner as an input option. As soon as I take one of the cards out it allows me to select tuner. I've tried this with both cards (ie, switched the one that I left in) and its the same. Two cards in = no tuner input option in setup. One card in and tuner imput is there. Also I checked in /etc/modulles and ivtv isnt even there when both cards are in, bttv is but no ivtv.

the first selection on that screen above where you select the tuner is a selection for mpeg2, sofware, or mjpeg ( I think this is correct it's for the matrox, and I've never used one). If that selection is on software it will not show tuner, because the input is called television on the software cards. if you change to mpeg2/pvr you should see the tuner0 option. with the setup you have you want one mpeg2 and one software. so you will have two cards defined.

ok...here is how I see it....when I put the second card in and boot up it asks for my root passwd...I give it. It says to answer yes to clearning the cards in the db and no to clearing the video sources...I do this. then it says go through steps 2 and 4. I go to step 2.

Step two is adding a new card... I have the following options

card type: standard v4l capture card, MJPEG capture card (Matrox G200, DC10), MPEG-2 Encoder Card (PVR-250, PVR-350), pcHDTV ATSC Capture card, digital video broadcast card

Video Device: /dev/video(xx)
VBI Device: /dev/vbi(xx)
Audio Device: /dev/dsp(xx)
Audio Sampling limit: (none)
Default Input: Television, Composite 1, S-Video, Composite 3

I assume both cards can not be /dev/video. how do I know which video(x) to choose?

The corret card is MPEG-2 Encoder Card
the defaults for the rest other than Default Input are fine.
For my Hauppauge PVR-250 I should be able to choose tuner 0 as an input option however it is not listed. I take out the second card and tuner 0 is available, I put the second card back in and tuner 0 is no longer avaialble. When both cards are in the PVR-250 is the first to be recognized at boot, then the WIntv-go (bt848). I have the selection on mpeg-2 and tuner still does not show up. Ive tried setting v4l as the first card and hoping that tuner willshow up for the second card but still it is not there. anyone have anymore ideas?

It depends on the order the drivers are loaded. First driver loaded will get /dev/video0, second one /dev/video1, etc.

To check this, take a look in your "/etc/modules.conf". There you should see some lines like those:



Depending on which card is detected first, KnoppMyth will automatically change and update your modules.conf. In the example above, ivtv is detected first (PVR250/350) and bttv secondly (WinTV Go). Thus /dev/video0 point to the PVR250/350 and /dev/video1 to the WinTV Go capture card. This will tell you which /dev/video(x) to choose within mythtv-setup.

But this is only true, if both drivers are really loaded. Please check that your ivtv driver is loaded? If not, this could be a reason why you don't see your tuner0 input. Do a lsmod to check it.

My ivtv driver wasn't loaded, so I had to add it to /etc/modules.

actually you can't always help what video device they get. I had the same as you posted earlier, but I had to change mine to let the bttv card have video0 and the pvr card get video1 cause the bttv card took video0 no matter what I did which would screw up the pvr card if I had it set to get it.
