Just upgraded to R5F1, using the AutoUpgrade. Everything worked perfectly with my system before the upgrade (other than an occassional crash every few weeks), but now after the upgrade, video playback comes up with a big black box over the screen. This is using the 350's TV out.

Audio and everything else still works. It seems like the video is getting sent out, as the black box doesn't completely cover the screen, and the edges of the screen appear to be showing the right thing.

Any thoughts? I can't get any of the OSD stuff to appear on the screen during playback, just the big black box with bits of the video on the outside.

Ok, I just noticed that while the black screen is up, if I press "Menu" on my remote, and then "OK", the Program Guide will come up, with the video playing properly behind it (like it's supposed to).

Hopefully that gives another clue.

And this is feeling less and less like it should be in the Installation board, so let me know, and I'll move it elsewhere if appropriate. I just figured "Installation" because it broke on upgrade.

Have you tried the setting discussed in the R5F1 hints and hazards thread, Known Change 5.4?

Perfect, that worked like a charm! I didn't notice that thread before, thanks!

I try to publicize the hints postings for each release as widely as possible, and have already posted a couple dozen links to the the R5F1 edition including the one in this thread: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15240

They're mention in the upgrade howto on the wiki: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=UpgradeHowTo

Cecil mentions them in his release announcements: http://www.mysettopbox.tv/ (see the ned of the paragraph for 5/11/07)

Short of asking Cecil to require people to answer questions based on the text before they can download the ISO I'm at a loss for ways to make them more obvious. :? :(

Well, the only thing I ever see is whatever is in the Pamphlet and on http://mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html, as that's where Google takes me when I search "Knoppmyth".

I'm a relative old timer with MythTV (using it about 4 years now), but a newcomer to KnoppMyth, so I wasn't aware of the typical places to check. I'll definitely know for next time.

Thanks,
Jay P.
