How do I connect the audio from my motherboard to my receive? The first motherboard I bought had digital out (optical), this only seems to have analog out.

Can you help a first-timer?

With the M2NPV you can an add-on or dongle type thing that will give you SPDIF out.

Your going to have to look for the digital card. Try the Asus site or where you bought the board. I've only used analog.
