well.. its case upgrade time. i spent stupid amounts of the bits - that extra $60 on each part seemed like nothing until i totaled the bills (hint.. buying pieces part by part makes it too easy to get stupid) - and im looking for something fancy to put it into - something to impress the ladies.

Can anyone tell me if the VFD will work with mythtv? im guessing short answer = no with a but.. long answer yes with an if. my forum search indicated that case displays can work.. is it case specific? or just works.

maybe someone has done it and can briefly describe the "if".

theres many cases with built in displays. there are windows programs that, for example help you to display winamp metadata onto such a display.. is there something i could install onto my myth box that would do something similar (successfully)?

I think you may have lucked out with the ladies (would that be Lay-Deees?) as most girls I know think a) computers are boring, b) fancy computer cases are boring and pointless and c) you're playing with linux. Most girls have never heard of linux, let alone want to know anything about it.

Perhaps I'm unique (but I doubt it) that with my missus, if I mention anything remotely to do with computers, other than it should just work... her eyes glaze over and ... well... if I don't change the subject quick I won't be getting any action tonight. Which is odd, coz so I think using Linux makes me more of a man...

And then when I roach the system due to a minor tweak... well, the WAF drops way below zero and boy, I'm in serious trouble and death may follow shortly and rather swiftly.

Sorry, I've nothing useful to say.... except search for 'imon' - think that's a common lcd display for pc's.

I have that case, and the VFD works fine.

In /etc/LCDd.conf make sure you specify the HD44780 driver. In the driver settings you also need to make sure that ConnectionType is set to winamp.
