Hi i have a:

amd 2500+
512 ram
Haupauge 401 software card

My main question is that when i record at any higher then 480 X 480 and either time shift, or watch something else at the same time my cpu usage jumps to 75% and spikes to 95+

i knew that its a software card but wow.. i have a 2500 and still isnt fast enough to timeshift?? i was wondering if anyone has the same problem??
I am open to changing to a 350 haupauge.. but Xsecrets said that it doesnt allow for decoding xvid/divx smoothly even if you got the processor?? Any 350 people out there have some feedback??? Anyway im not sure where to go with this problem.. any ideas??

something must be wrong with your setup. I have a 1700+ and a leadtek software card and a pvr card, and I can timeshift the leadtek card while recording on the pvr card no problems or record on both and watch a recording and go forwards and backwards no problem. Now you did say you were trying to use above 48x480 which I am not since it really doesn't make since to anyways since ntsc broadcasts aren't even that high of resolution.

I've got an amd 2200 xp with two software cards and 512 megs ram. I can record with both at the same time but the machine really bogs down if I try to watch a recording while both tuners are actively recording. I am capturing at 480x480 though, so I don't know what would happen at a higher resolution.
