Hi,

I've got problem with the tv-out with a pvr 350. I've read fast all posts in the forum but cannot find a way to use the tv-out.

When I select tv-out from the tv settings>playback in mythtv, i've got the black screen with sound.
I've tried this find on another post:
Quote:
To solve this delete /dev/fb0autodetect and /dev/fb1 and create a new fb1:
mknod /dev/fb1 c 29 1
chmod 666 fb1
chown video fb1

but it didn't change anything.

I also try try to follow this post http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... =fb+number to have x working on tvout.

but i've no reply when I try to find my fb number
Quote:
tail -f /var/log/messages &
modprobe ivtv-fb

How can I have tvout working from by selecting it in tvsettings ?

Should this work to use the tv out for the x interface ?

Thanks in advance.

please search the forums again follow a howto and let us know exactly at what step you had a problem, and what happended to you that didn't happen to the person who wrote the howto. PVR350 tvout is EXTREMELY difficult compared to anything else in knoppmyth right now, and it is not just a matter of checking a box there are many steps involved and if every one is not completed properly in order it will not work.

Ok i've tried again. I've follow the guide from saruman (http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... =fb+number) as I use Pal and live in Switzerland too.

After a couple of try I reboot with the XF86Config-4 modified and it don't give me any errors. But on the TV I got only a black screen.
On the monitor there is also a black screen..

I recheck all my files but didn't find any solutions..

Any idea ? thks

did you add the proper line to /etc/modules ?
I think it's ivtv-fb, but that's from memory, so you probably need to consult the howto's to make sure.

here is my ivtv file from /etc/modules

Code:
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-61 lirc_i2c
options ivtv debug=1 ivtv_pal=1
options tuner type=28
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1
options saa7127 enable_output=1 output_select=0 pal=1
add below ivtv msp3400 saa7115 saa7127 tuner
add above ivtv lirc_dev lirc_i2c ivtv-fb

I think it's correct ??

I'm not talking about the ivtv file from /etc/Knoppmyth/modules I'm talking about the /etc/modules file. you should add ivtv-fb to the end of that file so that the ivtv-fb modules gets loaded on boot.

although the add above in the one you have may get ivtv-fb loaded as well.

Another thing. once you modified the ivtv file did you run update-modules ?

Sorry...

I check the module file from /etc/, add the last line and run update-modules, reboot and black screen....

Code:
# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file should contain the names of kernel modules that are
# to be loaded at boot time, one per line.  Comments begin with
# a `#', and everything on the line after them are ignored.
rtc
yenta_socket
ds
usb-ohci
hid
mousedev
keybdev
serial
bcm4400
ne2k-pci
agpgart
snd-intel8x0
snd-mixer-oss
af_packet
autofs4
ext3
ivtv-fb

ok sorry I can't help you I've only worked on one of these once, and we gave up on it cause divx playback sucked, and I don't own one. But from what I remember we just followed the howto step by step, but that was back in R4V2. Maybe some other masochist that has dragged himself down the brutal road of setting up a pvr350 for tvout will come along and help you.

did you try to run it on the graphics card first?
This is how I started. Later I changed to 350 TV out, which is working as well.

I've got the following lines running dmesg :
Warning: Remapping obsolete /dev/fb* minor 64 to 2
Warning: Remapping obsolete /dev/fb* minor 96 to 3
Warning: Remapping obsolete /dev/fb* minor 128 to 4
Warning: Remapping obsolete /dev/fb* minor 160 to 5
Warning: Remapping obsolete /dev/fb* minor 192 to 6
Warning: Remapping obsolete /dev/fb* minor 224 to 7

What's this exactly ?
