I just upgraded to R5F1. Now, when I play any HD recordings, they run for about 3 seconds and then freeze. When I run top, I see that FahCore is hogging my resources.

I keep getting "prebuffering pause" messages. I never got these with R5E50.

Aha. Try disabling folding @ home.
Code:
update-rc.d -f folding@home remove
/etc/init.d/folding@home stop

That was it...I forgot that it enabling F@H was the only thing I did differently in this install when compared to the previous. Wow, that thing was really destroying my system. Everything runs so much faster now.

I don't understand how F@H is set to only take idle CPU cycles, because it was a huge impact on my system.
