In an effort to get a WG311 wireless pci card working I found the multitude of messages about ndiswrapper not working for RE50, was this resolved for R5F1? Anyone have any success getting this card to work in R5F1? Miserable failures?

Thanks!

works great in r5f1 very easy to setup, i didn't even need to add it to the modules.conf file, just followed the simple install on the ndiswrapper site for an idea on how to setup and done worked like a charm.

i use mine with wpasupplicant as well to connect to a wpa network, works great as well. seems finally linux is getting easier, its not like reinventing the wheel each time you install something.

Ok, stupid question then.

Since I have RE50 installed now and can't seem to get ndiswrapper working would upgrading to R5F1 take care of it? I have not done an upgrade before so I am unsure if the upgrade is essentially an install, and by this I mean would it get me a working version of ndiswrapper when RE50 did not.....I am rambling....sorry.

Backup and select auto upgrade. A auto upgrade is a clean install w/ a restore of the db and some files.

One last question and then I will be on my way to an upgrade....

I am currently using the prism2_usb module to get a wireless usb working. Is the backup process going to bring over all the configuration for the wlan0 I have configured? I would rather it not, so I could be sure it is not interfering with my new pci wireless card. I have quickly looked at the files the backup process uses, but I can't remember if it pulled those or not.

Sorry for the newb questions. I was feeling comfortable with everything until I was hit with the wireless issue again after a year....

As an update:

I was able to upgrade to R5F1, load my driver with ndiswrapper, and add it using "sudo ndiswrapper -m" command.

Everything is working wonderfully now!

Now the big decision, follow the impatient route and get Schedules Direct working or wait for the next release and go through another upgrade....curse my desire to by hardware and make software changes all at once!
