So I managed to work out all the bugs that upgrading to F1 caused except for one. When I go to watch TV or a recording, I can change channels, volume and everything so I know the buttons work, but nothing comes up on the screen. The exceptions is when I hit the guide button, the whole guide, pip, prev channel, etc comes up and I can get to the guide. So basically if I pause or change the volume, none of the graphics show up.

See the R5F1 hints. Especially the bit about theme names which have changed and how to fix them...

If you haven't read the hints there are probably more gotchas lurking that you just haven't tripped over yet.

I am taking a big stab in the dark here, do you have a VFD or little LCD screen as well. I am only guessing that what is happening is the On Screen Display (OSD) is being output somewhere else on a display that the computer "thinks" it has.

That is the thought that is rattling around in my head.

Yup. Found it in the frontend log.

2007-09-07 17:00:33.792 Couldn't find OSD theme: Isthmus

That'll kill ya every time I guess. Thanks!

With so many people upgrading to R5F1 now (and to R5F'x' soon) I'm going to take a second to get up on my soapbox to beg and plead with anyone who happens to reads this.

Please, if you're doing an install or an upgrade, read the R5F1 (or R5Fx) Hints threads. An investment of 5-10 minutes to do that before hand will save you endless grief.

Please! The sanity you save may be your own.

I read it first, print it, and cross out lines as I pass the steps. It cut my install time in half last time.

Not hogging the TV all day during an upgrade also does wonders for WAF.
