I have three tuners in my system. An HD HomeRun that provides two of the tuners, and a firewire connection to my cablebox that provides the other tuner.

In watching LiveTV, when using the HD HomeRun, my system locks up after viewing for just a couple of minutes.

I've left my TV on overnight watching a program over the FireWire connection, and it's still chugging along in the morning.

From this, I deduce I have something going on either in the HD HomeRun itself, or in my Ethernet configuration on the MythBox.

I'm posting to the forum for two reasons...

a) Has anyone else experienced this?
b) Anyone have ideas on how I can further trace the source of the problem?

Thanks!

Also, has anyone else observed "green pixels" while watching an HD HomeRun stream? And by "green pixels" I don't mean an isolated, errant pixel. I mean the entire image goes green - looking like something out of the Matrix. Blocks that are maybe a centimeter square.

It might be a cool feature/effect, if it wasn't unintentional.

Changing channels causes it to go away, but it reappears within 2-3 minutes.

and after the lockup...

I'm running R5F27 with an HDHomerun and it hasn't given me any problems. I highly suggest that you post in the Silicondust forums. They will probably be more help.

Are you using XVMC by chance? I could see that causing a green "matrix" like effect. Also go ahead and tell us your system specs, that will be very helpful for troubleshooting.

Yes, I do have XVMC enabled.

My configuration...

PSU: 16dB(A) Nexus NX-4090 400W PSU
MOTHERBOARD: Intel DG965WH
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
RAM: 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-667 / PC2-5300 RAM
CPU HEATSINK: stock Intel Core 2 Duo heatsink
DVD-RW: multi-format, super-quiet Lite-On SHW 160P6S
HDD: 500GB Western Digital Caviar RE enterprise-class quiet SATA HDD (WD5000YS)
GRAPHICS CARD: passively-cooled Gigabyte GeForce 7300GS (GV-NX73G128D-RH) with DVI / VGA / S-Video
SOUNDCARD: onboard analog audio
TUNER CARDS: HDHomeRun
REMOTE CONTROL: StreamZap IR Remote

Yes, I do have XVMC enabled.

I did an install of KnoppMyth R5F1, followed by an upgrade to the latest Myth release by following these directions...

http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewto ... light=r5f1

I have not upgraded to KnoppMyth R5F27 yet. I have the Chaintech audio card on order, and was waiting for that to come in. I might also add a couple of other hard drives to my system before doing the upgrade.

Thanks!

Also, I'm using a LinkSys WRT54GS router as my network hub.

Thanks again!

I suspect XVMC is probably the cause of your "Matrix" effect and could even be causing other problems. XVMC has come a long way but it still has some issues. On your hardware I'd recommend turning off XVMC (you certainly don't need it) for a while and see if that clears up any of your issues. If not, at least you have ruled it out.

Forgive me for asking but your not running the HDHomerun through the wireless side of that WRT54GS are you? That would certainly cause problems!

Also, can you describe the exact symptoms of the lock-up. Does the HDHomerun lock up or the Myth box? Is it a hard lock or just the front end (ie. Can you SSH into the myth box?). Also have you tried streaming to another PC (say a Windows box running the Config GUI and VLC) to make sure that works (preferably through the same router).

Upgrading to R5F27 fixed my issues. I think they were either XVMC or nVidia driver related.

BTW, I was running through the wired side of the WRT54GS - not the wireless.

Thanks for your help!
