I had done that but I removed and remade it incase I had made a typo.
in addition after the origional error if I run irsend again I get
could not connect to socket
connection refused
if I reboot I get the origional error once and if I try again I get the could not connect error.
very frustrating i have everything else working but if i can't get this to work then the box will get relegated to the bedroom.
Thanks for all the help any suggestions are appreciated

OMFG finally a step closer.
Kebe you got me on the right track thank you very much.
It was not working because setserial had to be run from /bin not /sbin
Not sure why but I changed that in my bootmisc.sh file and irsend now changes my box's channels.
Now to get myth doing it.
Thanks for all the help

ok fixed that problem I had to remove
irsend --device=/dev/lircd1 SEND_ONCE $STB_NAME SELECT
and set autotune in my DCT2000 all is good now.
so how would I go about getting my other remote the newer hauppauge silver remote to work. I want it to work in addition to the grey one. So following the logic could I somehow set it up to work on node 61 1?
any ideas

If you have a look at my previous post I had the same problem.
the setserial command is actually in /bin not /sbin
Change that line in bootmisc and see what happens

4. Input connections

Sounds like it is changing the channel on the tuner card still and sending the signal out the serial port. When you use your remote to change the channel and you get snow, try changing it back to channel 3 and see if you get a picture.
Also try running change_channel.csh from the command line with a channel# after it to verify it even works by itself.

I tried this HOWTO "How-to get an IR-Blaster working with KnoppMyth and other Debian-based Mythtv systems using Kernel 2.6" with both a Actisys 200L and a homebrew transmitter. I tried each one on com1 (3f8,4) and com2 (2f8,3). Every msg seems to indicate this is working, with the exception of
"BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000001] code: lircd/2485"
but using a digital camera, there is no IR being sent. It seems like there is no serial communications at all. Is there a known problem with R5A16?

"BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000001] code: lircd/2485
caller is lirc_ioctl+0x85/0x350 [lirc_serial]"
I too was able to get this in my dmesg output using 5A16. Thinking it was something I did, I ended up just rebuilding the box and starting from scratch.
I have not yet re-attempted my home brew IR Blaster.
So close .....

kebe wrote: 9. Make a "/etc/lirc/lircd.conf" file that includes configurations for both devices (remote and set-top box) by concatenating the two configuration files together. For example, if your set-top box file is "stb.conf" and the file for your remote is "remote.conf", then: Code: cat remote.conf stb.conf > /etc/lirc/lircd.conf (save your old lircd.conf first)
Ouch, that was unfortunate! I stepped along too quickly and executed the "cat" before reading the "save your old.." .. ended up with 0 byte file.. hahahaha. no problem.. my lircd.conf file was the config file for my remote.. and that wasn't truely configured yet.. (maybe it should be done first.) I'll do some "regrouping" and get back to this spot.
Thus far, this script has been working smoothly.. I'm on R5A16, so much of this is "in there" already. some of the steps could be simplified specific to R5A16 by simply stating "verify that such-and-such is installed or working by executing .. ".
Regards!

Okay, pretty much followed all these directions, and can't seem to find where my issue lies.
If I do a clean reboot, and run
Code: irsend --device=/dev/lircd1 SEND_ONCE GUIDE 3
I get: Code: irsend: command failed: SEND_ONCE GUIDE 3 irsend: hardware does not support sending
<br> So according to the previous posts I should rerun: Code: dpkg-reconfigure lirc-modules-source <br> Which I do and get: Code: root@mythtv:~# irsend --device=/dev/lircd1 SEND_ONCE GUIDE 3 irsend: timeout root@mythtv:~# I think the issue may be in my lincd.conf Code: root@mythtv:/etc# cat lircd.conf # # this config file was automatically generated # using lirc-0.6.4(serial) on Mon Nov 19 00:50:17 2001 # # contributed by # # brand: Cable # model no. of remote control: # supported devices: Motorola Digital Cable Box #

I used http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/mot ... gitalCable for my cable box.
Anyone have any clue what I might be missing?
I have my remote working previouslly, and now I can't even get irw to show me anything when the remote buttons are pressed. I manage to break other items while trying to get IR blaster to work.
I am not so Linux savy so commands would help me greatly. =)
